Welcome! |
My focus here thus far is on Gallienus and Salonina, with examples of Valerian, Mariniana, Valerian II, Saloninus, Postumus, Macrianus, [Quietus], and Aureolus.
With more than a few pieces collected, the ambiguities between top references becomes more apparent, and necessitates careful reconciliation.
Major references I try to get for every coin are: Göbl, RIC, RSC, Sear, and Hunter.
Despite being relatively less "granular" than the other major references I have decided to use RIC's organization, and I order the coins by RIC reference.
Within the albums, you will see the coins in the correct order if you "Sort by position ascending" - click the little up-triangle at upper
right above the image grid in each album. The large album cover image should be at upper left. Any newly added coins, not yet fully referenced will be next. I don't
really want to be offered references for coins that I haven't worked on yet, but will appreciate when you point out a mistake.
As my collection grew, my attributions became more researched using all the major references instead of just RIC or Göbl. This is reflected in some references
missing on many of my older acquisitions. I am also working on minor display problems arising from photo sizes. I am working to fix these things,
though not feverishly, as well as adding new coins, that may show up out of place, with incomplete information. With many more coins yet to collect than I have so
far, I make no claims to completeness in any regard and offer what I have as is, in flux.
I have added the text tag "zoo" on any coin that depicts an animal, to make them easier to search as a group. They include other issues, e.g. legionary, that aren't
really "zoo" coins, as we normally consider them, honoring nine deities.
I sincerely hope you may find this gallery useful or interesting. Thanks for looking!
Jon
